Community Wildfire Action Plan - Hidden Valley NRG, Corte Madera
Year 1 (2020)
- Education program—Work with Central Marin Fire Department (CMFD) and FIRESafe MARIN to create online zoom education events for Hidden Valley. First year focusing on defensible space and evacuation through email campaigns, Zoom and the HVNRG.org website.
- Defensible Space—Encourage residents to remove fire-prone vegetation, especially Juniper, cypress, bamboo, and acacia within 30 feet of all residences. Hold a free chipper program.
- Home-Hardening—Encourage regular removal of leaf debris from roofs, rain gutters, and from around home foundations.
- Responder Access—Discuss emergency vehicle access needs with neighbors to ensure 16’ vertical clearance for emergency vehicles. Discuss appropriate spacing of parking with neighbors so as to ensure 24 hour 12’ clearance for emergency vehicles access.
- Emergency Evacuation—work with neighbors to develop a “go pack” and family evacuation plans.
Year 2 (2021)

Continued focus on defensible space and evacuation through email campaigns, Zoom and the HVNRG.org website.
- Host and encourage attendance at “Living With Fire” workshop in Corte Madera

Special Efforts
- Work with County and Large parcel owners on eucalyptus thinning and maintenance.
- Work with CMFD on “shovel ready” projects to remove hazardous materials.
